The 1968-1970 AMX

American Motors eXperimental. The two-seater AMX of 1968, 1969 and 1970. Begin your tour of the site by going back to the introduction of the production AMX in 1968. Then stop by 1969 before heading into the AMXs final year of production as a separate model in 1970. Go >

The 1971-1974 Javelin AMX

Despite Dick Teague's best efforts to continue the two-seater AMX as a separate model into 1971, the corporate heads discontinued the two seat concept. The AMX name would live on however.
Beginning in 1971, the AMX would become a sport package option on its bigger brother, the Javelin. Go >

The 1977 Hornet AMX

1974 witnessed the final dying gasps of the once-mighty-muscle car (and the last of the 401 in the AMC passenger car line). Even the sporty AMX option would not be offered in 1975 or 1976.
Beginning in 1977 AMC would bring the fun back to driving with the Hornet AMX stating in their brochure "The AMX comes on strong with a floor shift, console, sporty gauges, soft-feel sports steering wheel and more." Go >

The 1978 Concord AMX

"Excitement is the word for the new AMX. From the sweep of the front fender to the flair of the rear deck, AMX's bold design transforms everyday driving into an exciting experience.", reads the 1978 sales brochure. Go >

The 1979, 1980 Spirit AMX

"The styling says sizzle. The performance is nothing short of inspiring. Meet AMX for 1979. Inside and out it's bold, commanding. Expect to be noticed." Go >
