Not sure if you can AMC didn't give the block it's own I.D. number to match the dash VIN like the big three. For 1970 if the block has say a 390 stamped on each side the VIN should have an X in it to...

If you don't see the body color underneath the black mask it probably has been repainted.

There is definetely a VIN behind the steering gear also how about the silver paper tag on drivers door jamb that has the vin and the build date.

He's doing a frame off on a 70 AMX now(replacing almost everything with nos) and is in the middle of rebuilding the 390 in it. Rick is more of a restorer and his brother Jim is a very talented engine...

I'm not positive but the voltage regulator plug may be different from 69 to 70 and with the changed 70 dash the wiring may be changed there too. There is a company in R.I. that makes harness's and...

Unless you wanted it that way your radio should be wired off the factory switched 12 volt radio lead and not 12 volt constant. Where did you go to power the radio ?

390, 4 speed with air, tilt, fm radio and power steering sounds pretty fancy to me. That's a well optioned car !
