AMC Muscle Cars: "Anybody who wanted to go toe to toe with the Big Three in the 1960s had to produce credible muscle cars. American Motors Corporation did exactly that with the S/C Rambler and the incredibly fast AMX. Some argue, however, that AMC's insistance on pouring its relatively limited resources into the "muscle wars" ultimately led to its demise. Illustrated throughout with modern photography of restored and factory original cars, archival images, AMC concept drawings, period advertisments, and cutaway illustrations, this color history primarily focuses on the conception, development, production, and performance of the AMX, as well as the Javelin upon which it was based. Special models like the Mark Donohue Signature Edition Javelin, along with the less-than-well-recieved Marlin, Rebel, SST, Hornet 360, Gremlin X and others are also included. Larry Mitchell eats, drinks, and sleeps AMC. He is the author of MBI's Illustrated AMC buyers Guide, the founder of a worldwide AMC owner's club, and the owner of an AMC aftermarket business. He lives in Arvada, Colorado." by Larry Mitchell published June, 2000. Softbound, 8-1/4" x 10-5/8", 128 pages, 80 color, 40 b&w (MC) $24.95 plus $3.50 shipping and handling.

AMAZING AMC MUSCLE: Good writing and lots of factory photos make this book a must for the shelves of every AMC collector. Title is somewhat misleading as the book is more about AMC in general than just the performance years and related cars. The book is heavy into 1966 and 1987 with little emphasis on 1955 to 1965. Also covers Hornet, Gremlin, Rebel, Matador, Ambassador and American history that are not really AMC muscle cars, but are worth knowing about. Heavy on the Javelin and AMX which will please a lot of AMC people. Lots of nice factory photos and history to include prototypes and AMC factory racing. Back of the book details options on selected AMC cars, 1968-1974 to include prices. By Edrie Marquez published in 1988 by Motorbooks, Int B&W 223 pages, softbound.
