Over 20 years ago, a group of AMC autocrossers in the Chicago area found ways to improve the AMX and Javelin to have excellent handling without suffering increased ride harshness or undesirable road manners. "Anybody who wanted to go toe to toe with the Big Three in the 1960s had to produce credible muscle cars. American Motors Corporation did exactly that with the S/C Rambler and the incredibly fast AMX. Some argue, however, that AMC's insistance on pouring its relatively limited resources into the "muscle wars" ultimately led to its demise. The stickers listed here are a combination of genuine original AMC-made stickers or perfect reproductions. The original stickers we have will be sold until we run out and can not locate any more. The reproductions were made with full legal permission from the AMC Legal Department in 1978. The late Dick Teague felt strongly about the AMC hobby having the right to take up where AMC left off and obtained this written permission in the name of Larry Mitchell years ago. A verbal part of this agreement was that we have the decals done exactly as originals or extremely close at all costs. We have lived up to this and what repro stickers we offer can not be told from originals. They are hand silk-screened, each color carefully and faithfully matched. Repro stickers from other sources are of poor quality, incorrect colors and unoriginal materials. Prices are about the same. You only get the quality stuff from AMX Enterprises. These modern forged axles are a simple bolt-in. You must use a hub puller to pull the stock hubs and a slide hammer to pull the axle-or let a shop do it, it is not a big or expensive job. (if you go this far, you might consider putting on the rear disc brake kit from AMX Enterprises!) Put the brakes (original drums or the new disc kit) back on, install the rim and tire and you have a super strong ALL AMC rear axle. No need to worry about rear axle problems, no need to cross breed your AMC car with Ford or Mopar rear axles grafted on the rear springs. It is easy, simple and no longer very expensive. More > |
