I intend to either replace my original distributor, or at least upgrade it to an HEI system. The new option offers me up to 65k volts; what do the upgrades offer? Also, with such an increase in voltage, are different sparkplugs required with bigger air gaps? (any part #'s if so) Any preferences to either option? Thanks for the info, guys !!

I am going thru the same. As far as I know, the easiest switch is a 'protonics' or 'protronic' (can't remember at the moment) insert. Supposedly, it is a simple swap and just an h.p. coil will do the trick. I don't have their link, but it should be an easy search, as I have been to the site a few times.

I think you're referring to the Pertronix Ignitor:
