The wheel differs from the one on my '69.The pipes may be "Trendsetters" after market.Mark.

Nice looking car! Steering wheel is not the correct one for the car! And the side pipes are Trendsetter Re-pop's dealer add on side pipes.

Under the hood it should be the same color as the car NOT Black! make sure the seller is not trying to cover up anything...
Other then that just look for rust!

The car looks pretty nice and all. Love the color of it, always like blue anyway. What year is it? Looks like a 68. AMC rims were chrome magun 500's and were later changed in 69 for the spectle look with a cheap trim ring. The 68's option wheel was the all chrome magum 500 style wheel. This wheel was all chrome around a blacked out center. Really a nice wheel and AMC went cheap the following year.
The steering wheel is definitely not the original wheel. I do not believe AMC offered only one steering wheel for the AMX and the one shown is not it.
Javelinman is correct in that the engine bay area is suppose to be the same color as the rest of the car. But what the heck, maybe not perfect restoration, but what is anymore.
The trendsetters look great on it, too bad I can't get the wife to let me put a set on the 70 AMX that we have.

No doubt that it's a beauty, a real looker. But since you asked what's 'wrong' (as in not stock) by looking at the pictures and to add to the other posts: hood insulation is missing, seats reupolstered non-stock, radiator A/C baffle is missing. Something is not right with the side-pipe mounting rails (they look too tall) but it's hard to tell by the angle of the pic. Just curious but why the overspray on the condensor?

These are minor issues - it's not restored to stock - but is nicely done. It looks like a very nice car the way it sits but it could use just a few minor things to finish it completely.

Thanks for all your help, i have some real bargaining points with the seller now, in addition that the car was originally an automatic (converted to m-10 4 speed) and the car should be green. but anyways, any further help would be spectacular. thanks again.

Something is not right with the side-pipe mounting rails (they look too tall) but it's hard to tell by the angle of the pic. Correction: They're okay - after looking at mine it must be the angle of the picture.
