Does anyone know of a leaf spring from a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, ect, that would fit a Concord? Seeing lots of ads for Ford, GM and Chryslers, but no AMC. Will a early 70's Nova-Camaro fit? Thanks...

Hi Kem,
ESPO Springs http://www.espo.com/ shows springs are available for 78-83 Concords at $120-150.00 per matched pair. Coil springs are $75-80.00.

EATON Detroit Spring at http://www.eatonsprings.com/
Their website says they have over 23,000 Original Manufacturers Blueprints including: Alliance, Ambassador, American, AMX, Classic, Concord, Eagle,
Encore, Gremlin, Hornet, Javelin, Marlin, Matador, Pacer, Rambler, Rebel,
Spirit. I didn't see any prices though.

Hope that helps.

I have a 79 Concord Wagon. A old AMC dealership now just repair shop told
me to order the springs I needed from a local junk yard. He gave me the
number of the spring I needed. I ordered and got them ok for around $120.00.
I removed the old springs and installed the new. While I was at it I dropped
the gas tank and installed a new (to me) sending unit.

When I put the Concord back on the ground, it sagged so bad it was worse
than the ones I removed. I took it to fill the tank and by the time I left the
gas station the bumper was six inches off the ground.

What I ended up doing was, I re-installed the old set but added one leaf from
the new set. The car was level again plus adding one leaf did not affect the
good ride at all. I was VERY happy with the results even after doing it twice.

When I told the old AMC dealership guys what happened, one of the older
guys told me I should have told them to order them for a wagon but use the
same order number because the wagon's had four leafs and the others
had three. I didn't want to get into a pissing match because my wagon HAD
only three leaf springs from the factory, not four so I just dropped the
subject.

I'm telling you this story in hopes you don't have the same problems I did. Ask
a lot of questions BEFORE you order them. It will save you a ton of work.
