    Default 258 to v8

    Hi, I have a 73 AMC Hornet x I want to replace the 258 6 cylinder with a v-8
    what resources are avilable to let me know what i need for this conversion
    I've heard i can put in a 304 or a 360 but what else is there to know?

    For starters you'll need a V-8 crossmember, heavier front springs, V-8 rear-end (the six rear-end won't hold up to a V-8), tranny, tranny crossmember and drive shaft. All AMC V-8s have the same external dimensions so a 401 will drop in as well as a 304 or 360.
