Dogleg headers on rectangular port heads?

Has anybody tried installing the dogleg headers on the square port heads? I have an old set of dogleg headers laying around that look like they would probably work. I don't have the money to get a new set for rect port heads.

I had a set of old dogleg headers laying around so I gave it a shot. Matched up the square gaskets to the header flange and other than the dogleg, things pretty much matched perfectly. So, I pulled out the welder and and put about 1/4" fill in the dogleg. Ground everything smooth, used the square port gaskets and bolted it together.

I'd say it went perfectly, but I have a small leak at the top of the siamesed ports on the driver sidel. I still have to look into that. BTW, the headers and dual exhaust made a world of difference in power.
