Thread: Strange Hood

    Default Strange Hood

Hello there, I aquired this 73 Javelin, and would like to know where this hood came from, or if you guys can identify it. The way the scoop is attached and the opening is so smooth, I do not think it has been added after the fact. There is also a stamp on the inside of the scoop, and the plate that surrouns the aircleaner on the inside. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It looks to be an aftermarket hood scoop. The hood looks stock Javelin with the scoop and pins added. In the mid-to-late '70s adding hood scoops and hood pins were "the thing". I'd guess they were probably added back then.

Yeah, I am quite sure now that this isn't anything original,(I was thinking it might have been off some old race car), but the hoods pins are not drilled they are "punched" in somewhat of a hex shape, someone told me that this whole hood might have been something JC Whitney offered in the 70s. Could this be right?

JC Whitney would have offered the scoop, but not with the hood.
