X-perience AMX 36 - 40

My brother told me about your site. I am the original owner of a '70, 390 AMX. It's great to see there are others willing to put an effort into American Motors' best, despite being outnumbered by the other makes. My 390 is a little healthier than a stock motor: Melling road racing hydraulic lifter cam, adjustable rockers, Offenhauser Dual-Port intake, headers, +.040" bore and 750 Holley.
Sincerely,
Larry Honegger, Lima, OH

Hi, my name is Michael Skewes. Here is my '69 AMX , Bittersweet Orange w/Go Pack and a 390. I bought it in '96. My dad bought a '68 AMX, Matador Red w/ Go Pack brand new when they came out. After the first wreck and a '70 front end put on, mom wrapped it around a telephone poll and that was that (mom was fine, but mad), I've wanted one ever since. All I did to this one was new tires, Edelbrock carb, MSD box with a Mallory dist. all new exhaust system-three inch pipes, Hedman headers, 2 chamber flowmasters, new valve covers and cooling system. Now I drive around Burbank Ca. and eat up Mustangs and Camaros.
Feel free to e-mail me at mdskewes@earthlink.net

1969 390 AMX. The following link has about 75 pictures on it and I add more as the car progresses. It basically shows the car being rebuilt from scratch, it might have some useful tips, etc. If you would like to look at it is at http://community.webshots.com/album/936840. The car should be on the road again this summer.
Thanks Al Peters.

Love the site. It enabled me to find and purchase a '69 AMX recently. When I was a teenager I bought my first car, a '70 AMX, which I totaled in '78. I always wanted another and finally got one. It's a Regatta Blue 343 auto with silver stripes and interior. I bought it in Boston and drove it back to Philly. It drives great and is a real head turner. Keep up the good work.

Here's a few pictures of my 69 AMX for your page. It's stock with a 343c.i. four speed and go-pack. It's dark blue with platinum stripes and interior. Enjoy your site.
Thanks,
