what does this number on the pass side valve cover mean on a 69 AMX?

The tag on the passenger side is telling you the date and year along with the type of engine. These tags were put on all V-8 engines and as an example of the numbers on a tag, I will give an attempt. Say you have tag number 308H29. The first number is the year ( 3 being 1970). The next 2 digits tells you the month (08 being August). The next is the letter designation for the cubic inch of the motor (H being that of a 290 or 304 V-8). The last 2 digits is the day of the month that motor was assembled (29 being that of the 29th of the month). So the number means that engine was assembled on the 29th of August in 1970.
