Alternate VIN Location ??

Anyone know where I can find an alternative location for the VIN ??

I bought a 70 AMX that was previously a race car and has no interior nor dash.
If I can find a VIN, I can have a police officer certify my registration and get a title.

There is definetely a VIN behind the steering gear also how about the silver paper tag on drivers door jamb that has the vin and the build date.
