727 replacement for a Borg warner M11 or M12
Does anyone have a list of exactly what is needed to install a 727 tranny in a 1969 AMX with a 390 engine and A/T?
Does the drive shaft have to be replaced, Does the engine have to be balanced to the Tranny, What about the kick down rod, :Shifter linkage? And so on and on.
Any information will be appreciated.
Thank you

The back of a '69 crank does not fit the input shaft of a 727. The crank must be removed from the engine and machined to fit the input shaft of the 727. Then it must be rebalanced with the new 727 flexplate. The driveshaft must be cut and rebalanced.
All mechanical 727 kickdown linkage must be obtained, installed and adjusted.
One must construct a piece of rod linkage to make the original shifter work with the 727.
It is cheaper overall to obtain a 1972-up 401 engine if you are starting from scratch. If not, it will be time consuming and expensive. Most people leave the BW because of time and costs.

Thank you very much. I was afraid that was the case with the 727 conversion.
I think I will rebuild the B/W. They were built to work with the 390 anyway.
