oil filter
can anyone advise what the correct oil filter (current production) would be for my 1968 390? Engine is modified, so I just need a good filter, not worried about color and so forth.
Thanks,
Jim

Here's a couple of oil filter numbers for your engine. You may find the links interesting as well. They have results of testing numerous different brands of filters.
Fram #PH 11
Purolator PremiumPLUS: #L30005

Last summer I started my Jav *74, 360, 4sp* and it suddenly had 0psi, much different than the 30psi it had only minutes earlier.
I asked around at another web site and I was told to simply change the filter...
out went the fram and in went a WIX.
Oil pressure was a bit higher than with the fram filter, I would say partially due to it being old and probably partially clogged, and partially since I was told that WIX filters have less pressure drop.
Since then, that's the only filter (air or oil) I've used for my cars (jav and a grand am), my lawnmower (early 70s briggs 8hp), other than a kn drop-in in the grand am.

I was having the same problem even though I changed the oil pickup, cleaned the oil pan, rebuilt the oil pump and flushed the motor with kreen, but it still loses oil pressure after about 10-15mins of running. Maybe this oil filter would help me as well, where could I buy one of these oil filters?
I read on this other thread that it could be the oil pressure valve sticking, could someone tell me where it is located? Thanks.
