Thumbs up dry wrap vinyl wiring harness tape

The original tape used from the mid 60s to the 80s to wrap the wiring harness on American cars was a 'dry wrap' vinyl tape. This tape has no adhesive backing. When it's wrapped tight tension holds it in place. It's then looped on the end of a runner and pulled thru to secure it.

If your wiring harness has had some 'repairs' over the years, it's common to find just plain old hardware store electrical tape in places. This tape wasn't designed for the heat of an engine bay and can turn into a nasty mess from the adhesive melting where it's exposed to lots of heat from engine.

The original type 1" wide dry wrap vinyl tape is available from the Eastwood Company. Just go to their website (eastwood.com) and do a search and you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

You won't find this tape at Auto Zone......
