360 compression increase
I have a 78 360 out of a Jeep I want to put in my Javelin. I know these have the lower compression heads. What is the easiest way to increase the compression? Is there a thin headgasket available? How much could I shave off the bottom of the head, what could that get me with stock pistons? I will probably reuse the pistons. The engine doesn't seem to be worn too bad, and I'm trying to get by as cheeply as possible.

Bring the heads into a machine shop and they will tell you how much needs to be shaven. That is the easiest way to do it. But you are not going to gain much. Pistons are a better choice if you want to go from 8.5 to 10.

060" copper head gasket and your heads shaven,Ash your machine shop where that will bring you..
If you want get up to around 11:1 where I'm going with my 360 for Drag Racing, Use 343 Pistons cost under $40.00 ea. ~ike~
