360 Heads on a 304
I do not believe that the 360 heads are a straight bolt on. Something to do with the valve sizes being to big for the bore size of the 304. However, I knew of a guy that did put larger valves into an existing 304 heads and had great results. His 304 ran better and when he outfitted it with a nitrous system would burn up the quarter mile in under 12 seconds. Needless to say, this car (a 70 Javelin) was a barn burner and not to many cars around that could take him on in a head to head race.
He did tell me that in order to get the bigger valves to fit, that he had the shop "sink them in a bit". The hows I do not know.
