Polarity Questions/problems
For 73 Javelin 360.
What should the polarity be on the S & I posts of the Stater Relay and what should the polarity be for the wires coming out of the Ballast Resistor?
The reason I ask is I'm trying to fix the "clean up" work someone who was helping me install a new coil did. The wires to coil test as ground/negative but I think they should be positive.

The tech manual should specify. Also, if there is a ballast resistor in the system, I don't think that is a stock item and it should be eliminated unless the use of aftermarket components require the use of one. A good auto electrician should be able to answer these questions and concerns.
There is a TSM online for the 1973 models in case you don't have one. See this thread:

Thanks. I guess what I was calling a ballast resistor is actually the regulator -- my mistake. think I got the wiring figured out (a misunderstanding on my part about what i was seeing of the starter relay and a loose connection).
Still can't get it to fire, but the starter is at least turning now.
