Drivetrain noise
When I drop the hammer on my 69 AMX390, 4-speed I get a loud bang out of the drive train. It seems to happen in any gear and goes just fine after the bang. I borrowed a driveshaft from a buddy and it did a few smaller bangs. Sounds a lot like the splines in the yoke may be worn. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks, Bill

I spoke to Tony at California Classic AMC and he suggested that you check the bushings in the Torque links first as it sounds like this is most likely the problem. It could also be the key way on the axle shaft, which is a typical characteristic of a 4-speed car. As a last resort check the Ring & Pinon gears for broken teeth.
Let us know what you find.
