Guide plates
I am in the process of a mild build 401. With a mild comp cam and magnum roller tip rockers. The intention is to shift point at about 4500 and red line at 5000 rpm. Do I need pushrod guide plates for this application?

Guide plates need to be used in systems where the lift and duration of the camshaft is increased compared with standard values. They provide additional support for the tappets and prevent them from bending or breaking at high speeds, which could cause engine damage. In your case, I recommend that you use guide plates to provide extra support for the tappets.
