shift linkage
Hi,
I was wondering if the hurst shift linkage for the t-10 was factory installed or dealer installed. Also, is it worth it to get the hurst linkage? According to some articles I read, they claimed that an immediate switch should be made because normal linkage negated the purpose of having a 4 speed manual in the first place.
Thanks,
Jim

Hurst shifter
Yes, after about mid year 68, the Hurst Shifter was standard issue for the cars. The old AMC shifter was a Ford knockoff and they performed badly. The old AMC shifter would get so sloppy that they were unworkable as a shifter. The remedy by AMC was to change over to the Hurst Shifter and those shifters were 10 times the shifter of the previous model. If you are going to change, strongly recommend the Competation Hurst 4 speed Shifter if you cannot find a factory Hurst.
